Modern Slavery Statement
Soho Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Soho Man and Van has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. Soho Man and Van operates within the transport and removals sector and recognises its responsibility to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct, respect for human rights, and fair treatment of all workers.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Soho Man and Van has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, and all forms of exploitation. We are committed to acting with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place within our own operations or our supply chains.
All directors, managers, employees, agency workers, and contractors are expected to uphold this commitment. Any breach of this policy by our staff may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract. Any breach by suppliers or business partners may result in suspension or termination of our relationship with them.
Supply Chain Standards and Due Diligence
Our supply chain includes providers of vehicles, fuel, equipment, storage facilities, and labour-related services. We expect all of our suppliers and business partners to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery and to comply with all applicable laws relating to labour, employment, and human rights.
As part of our due diligence processes for new and existing suppliers, Soho Man and Van assesses the risk of modern slavery based on factors such as geography, type of service, and known sector risks. We prioritise engagement with suppliers where the risk of labour exploitation may be higher, and we expect suppliers to be transparent about their own supply chains and labour practices.
Supplier Audits and Compliance Monitoring
Soho Man and Van is developing and implementing proportionate supplier audit processes to monitor compliance with our modern slavery standards. These may include documented checks on right to work, working hours, pay records, recruitment practices, and the use of labour agencies. Where appropriate, we may request evidence of policies and procedures, training records, and compliance with relevant legislation from our suppliers.
If we identify concerns during an audit or review, we will work with the supplier to develop an improvement plan with clear actions and timeframes. Where issues are not remedied, or where serious breaches are identified, Soho Man and Van reserves the right to suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Soho Man and Van encourages a culture of openness where concerns about modern slavery, exploitation, or unethical practices can be raised without fear of retaliation. All employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspected instance of modern slavery in our operations or supply chain.
Concerns can be raised directly to line managers or senior management within Soho Man and Van. Reports may also be made through internal whistleblowing channels where available. We will take all reports seriously, investigate them promptly and fairly, and maintain confidentiality as far as reasonably possible. Any individual raising a concern in good faith will be protected from detrimental treatment as a result of speaking up.
Training and Awareness
Soho Man and Van is committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our workforce. Relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management, will receive training on identifying signs of exploitation and on the steps to take if they have concerns.
We will provide employees with access to information about modern slavery, including indicators of forced labour and trafficking, so that they understand how these issues can arise within the transport and logistics sectors and can help identify and address potential risks.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Soho Man and Van recognises that combating modern slavery is an ongoing process that requires continuous monitoring and improvement. We are committed to regularly reviewing our policies, risk assessments, and due diligence procedures to ensure they remain effective and proportionate to the risks in our sector and supply chains.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis by the senior management team. The review will consider any incidents reported, the results of supplier audits, changes in legislation, and best practice guidance. Where necessary, we will enhance our controls, training, and engagement with suppliers to further strengthen our approach to preventing modern slavery.
This statement is approved by the leadership of Soho Man and Van and represents our ongoing commitment to upholding human rights and ethical standards throughout our business.
